I have a confession
Sometimes I feel trapped in my worry. Alone in my faith. There are situations that are so far beyond me, so far out of my reach that no matter how hard I try I can’t get there. I take on the problems others, carry them on my back, the weight of it all slowly burying me. I am made heavy by trouble and stress, the ground can not hold me, it devours me.
Every time I try to take a step out in faith it’s as if there is something tying my hands. Pinning me down and pushing me back to the place in which God has so graciously pulled me out of. A place of depression, anxiety, parties, alcohol and weed. That place keeps calling my name, begging me to return into its scorching grip. Alluring like a melody, sweet as chocolate, it calls me.
I have to endure but it is so dark. I’m groping around looking for somewhere solid to rest but I seem to find none. I was running in circles but now I’m running in larger circles.
What do you do when temptation knocks? How long can you ignore the pounding?
The world is outside, the world is outside but the world is trying to kill me. I’m broken inside, I’m broken inside, the glass cuts me from within. The life I have is only one. One chance to live on this earth, I will not live it in pain. Oh joy, reveal to me your face.
I have hope
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us.
Look up, all you beautiful people. Our names are written in the book of life. We are chosen by God, hand picked for His glory. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. (Psalm 139:17-18) Look up to the things everlasting, to He Who is eternal. Look to the One Who is Love it’s self. Look to the One Who knows all of me and chooses to keep me anyway.
Look beyond, all you chosen ones. We are not abandoned, we are not left behind. God sculpts His children into warriors, we are in training. Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance of the things not seen (Hebrews 11:1) I know where I want to go so I refuse to be blinded by the fact of the now. I have been given gifts, I have been given a voice. I will scream from the rooftops, proclaim the name of Jesus because no one else can take me where He wants to take me. There is no one that can do what He can do, or anyone who cares for me the way He does. It may hurt now but my void will be filled.
Look within, all you citizens of heaven. We are made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27) We are given minds that are able to do the most incredible things. Twenty-six letters in the English language. Twenty-six letters from which we create endless songs, poems, books articles, spoken words. Out of a little comes a lot, you just have to be willing to pour what you have and watch the overflow.
Greater is He who lives in me than he who lives in this world.
-1 John 4:4
The world is outside, the world is outside and the world I will conquer. I’m broken inside, I’m broken inside but God is the master builder. A shift in perspective will make the ugly beautiful, turn the tears into laughter.
The face of joy has always been there, I just needed to open my eyes.
Through Jesus, we are promised heaven. We are promised an eternity spent with the one who is love its self. To be face to face with the one who created you and I, the stars and the sea. The Holy Spirit, also known as the advocate comes to live within us providing us with an endless flow of love, peace and power from The Creator.
God is gracious, He has given us a sure way into the kingdom. Jesus died because the punishment for sin is death (We all sin, its a part of human nature). So, God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we can be made right with God through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21). He was sacrificed, bore the punishment we deserved, but He was raised to life again and is at the right hand of God interceding for us (see Romans 8:34) Now, because of Him, we get to live in joy, peace and love. However, this is a life you have to choose.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is LORD” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
So, if this is a choice you want to make, here’s a little prayer you can say out loud:
God, I know I have sinned,
But I also know that your love is bigger than it all.
Jesus, in you, I am forgiven
and today I want to receive all that you have for me.
So, Jesus, I confess with my mouth,
that you alone are LORD
No one above or before you.
I believe in my heart,
That you died for my sins
and on the third day,
God raised you from the dead.
For this, Jesus,
I am forever grateful.
If you have made this choice today I can honestly say, it is the best one you have ever made.
Now, where ever you are, drop me an email, I would love to say congratulations! Further, try finding a church or anyone who you can talk to, its always best to walk this journey with other people.
